Using fw 1.06 beta:
Programmed some conventional dmr freqs. On my sds, when holding on one of the dmr freq, it decodes the voice but not the reply. Like it gets locked up on decoding.

Check that you do not have auto selected in digitial threshold mode.

Im having the same problem, and i never use gps but cant keep a lock on the best tower it jumps between 2 all the time. And dmr wont work on mine unless perfect rssi.
Have you tried doing a "site hold" to stay locking onto one site? If you try that and set the system hold time to 255 seconds which is 4 minutes 25 seconds, your scanner will stay on the first best control channel which will greatly improve performance when stationary.

Cant do site hold because i have 2 systems that i go between while scanning but yes site hold does work, also to above sds100 cant control digital threshold.

Firmware upgrade request?
If we do not use gps with the sds, could we please have the option to turn off the gps update interval?
Or if we turn off the port in gps settings, could it please turn off the update process?
This might even help with borderline reception of a trunked system that is harder to stay locked on to the cc When the the sds is going to stay stationary.

Thanks

More than just GPS check is done during that time. GPS is just the easiest to explain.

Sds100 and bucks county, pa system

Downloaded and installed latest beta firmware. All went well. Scanner is scanning 700 systems, NJ / PA
with no problem except Bucks County 700 system. I have the NAC ignored and the NAC is 4D1. Before download, NAC 4D1 would come up and when the scanner stopped on a channel it corrected the NAC with the proper one. Would show 4D1 / 394h.... After download of new firmware it now will only show the 4D1 and 000h. It will though after several channel hits, the correct NAC will finally appear again. This only happen on the Bucks County system. All other 700 systems seem to be working just fine. Audio is okay, although not as clear as the other 700 systems when they come in. Have gone back to using older firmware files and still have the same problem.

Any ideas or suggestions???

Thanks!!!

I think police talkgroups are encrypted you should check the database.

This says something about encryption capability on the bucks county system:

Thanks for replying upman, my sds receives p25 tdma simulcast better when staying locked on the cc.
When i max out the hold time, it really locks tdma in. I'm still running the 1.06 fw and will have to adjust the hold time to coincide with a better house keeping interval.

Yes but at close to $650, a scanner like this should do it automatically, no?

Anyone that doesn't believe the VHF hi-band on the SDS-100 doesn't have problem watch :

Release Notes:
1. Fixed freezing issue over 1000 sessions (sub folders) in user recording mode. This might also affect the reboot issue.

Still not resolved. SDS100 started rebooting numerous times today...deleted 597 folders, 14% Memory Used, 32 gb Transcend High Endurance card used.

I just wanted to comment on the Bucks County 700 megahertz P2 system spoken of here. I use the SDS 100 to supplement my apx7000. I have recognized the same issue with the NAC code. I think it's the system.

I also use a hold time of 255 and only have the Bucks County system programmed on that favorites list. The answer to your question is you can't scan any other systems and you can't scan anything else because of the long hold time. With the apx 7000 as a control with these settings you have a minimum amount of missed Transmissions. You just can't use the radio for anything else.

I would suggest the next firmware roll out should include the two threshold settings like the 436/536 have. Be great to be able to reduce the digital error count to clean up the modulation.

So you are suggesting we go back to using a 4-level FSK instead of an I/Q design? I would expect that that would be a huge backward step in overcoming simulcast issues.

multiple NAC codes

Yesterday I updated to 1.05.00 F/W and now on Bucks County 700 MHz system I get 2 NAC codes showing up. If I have NAC search on it says 4D1 which is in the DB for Bucks County. That is what I had set before I updated the firmware. Now with 4D1 set as the NAC code when the sds 100 stops on a voice channel (any one) it reads 4D1 and flashes D34 or 000 or 1C5. Anyone else notice this happening?
Also if I enter D34 or 000 as the NC code 4D1 flashes as an alternate. The radio receives fine no matter which NAC is entered as the primary one.
Thanks in advance, Bob

P25 P2 C/C

Using this beta firmware, when I turn the SDS on with my P25 P2 system on hold it doesn't find the
Control Channel it will just scan the freq. Now if I turn the unit off and the back on it locks onto the C/C and scans normally, does anyone have any ideas?
This seems to happen if the SDS is turned off for a couple hours and the back on, it doesn't matter if I'm on hold on that P25 system or not, off then back on and all is fine.

I would focus on the sd card. Write to the card and check 'erase favorites lists on scanner' when writing.. If that doesn't help try a new (or start with blank) SD card.
