Well how cool...... using the below link on the Proscan page, after I was able to get my 200 onto my wifi network using the Vonets wi-fi bridge (which was super easy) I was still wondering about getting audio to my pc without using a cable.... so using this link, was able to get the audio to my laptop via the "loopback" check box. I have no plants to open a firewall port or stream online but this is an excellent way to get audio to you own pc's/mac's.... thank you for this to Proscan and the author... then i experimented with the MSM command and all it would do is reboot the PC, till I discovered you still needed a USB connection between the two, once I plugged in a USB to the Macbook and to the front of the scanner (Micro USB port), then it would reboot into Mass Storage... so while not totally wireless, I guess I can plug into the radio if I need to do any updates.... I'll research further and see if there's a way to do it via FTP instead... but super happy with my Proscan purchase... great software, best investment you could ever make to your radio hobby. Thank you Bob for a great product and thank you Mike (NYRHKY94) for the below PDF.

I do have Windows 10 on a new computer I got of course but one of these two computers I'll be putting it on is running Windows 7 Home Premium.

As a former Microsoft employee who worked on the Windows team and currently still work in the industry and being a Mac user, I totally understand your nervousness, but I can't suggest highly enough that you skp 7 and go to 10. I hear what you are saying, it takes a bit to get use to but you can shut off most of the garbage and make it more like earlier versions. The very good built in anti virus is worth it alone, I run all Mac OSX but have Win 10 for my Proscan as well as my Motorola CPS programming software... I have Win XP on one machine only because one of my Motorola RSS programs requires that version but once you tailor 10 to your liking you'll probably find it much better, plus everything you install will be compatible and you won't have to worry about doing this all again after January when they end of life Win 7.

Just a thought, Win 10 may be confusing but it gets less so once you spend some time in it.

Did you set the user name and password in settings? And put them in Proscan when you tried FTP along with enabling FTP in settings on the scanner.

Thanks, haven't tried the FTP route yet, that's next... thank you... I'll read the docs and search on here for the PW etc. Have found lots of good info on it like this one, great resource https://forums.radioreference.com/threads/proscan.387118/

Thank you again.

Thank you for the message and I agree with you. I've got a number of older PCs set up in my radio room that are running Windows 7 and those would not even be capable of installing Windows 10 on. But I'm not worried about those and I think that I will just keep them disconnected from the internet anyways since they are pretty much dedicated to different radios that do not have or need any new updates. They're hooked up to the older gear and the older software. I've got 3 computers that I am mainly thinking of updating Windows 7 to Windows 10 on and then of course the new PC that is still boxed up that has Windows 10. My newer SDS100 / 200, G5, and even some other radios like the Icom IC 7300 I want to get would be the types of gear and software I would want to use on the Windows 10 PCs. Most of the newer software, and a lot of the older software I'm sure as well, I might as well set up and install on Windows 10 and make it universally across the board easier. That is a good recommendation. I don't know a whole lot about the anti virus protection that Windows 10 comes with right now but it sounds like it's good. I appreciate the feedback and very helpful information! I've been doing a lot of backing up of my data on two of the Windows 7 PCs lately just so that I can be ready to update to Windows 10 on them. It's very time-consuming for me but it's something that I need to get done. I may just wait on getting ProScan until I finish everything up and I've installed Windows 10. Since it does go on two computers with the license, I may be able to get a copy and put it on the new computer and then start using it until I get my secondary PC switched over to Windows 10 and put the ProScan software on it for the second copy. And then after getting the other computers switched over two Windows 10 I can get another license for two more copies if I'm happy with ProScan.

I noticed people making the occasional suggesting for additional features to Proscan.... there's a piece of software that the developer is no longer supporting so I feel comfortable saying this now. Freescan has an AWESOME utility in it called EZ-Grab that lets you copy a bunch of frequences from a page or document and then paste them into Freescan and it imports them into a favorite list table. No Excel, no CSV etc... it is SUPER slick.... I wish he was still supporting Freescan as it's great software but as he isn't now, I'd love to see that come into Proscan.

Here are two links about it, I can't connect my SDS100/200 up to Freescan but I installed it just to use to build favorite lists with this cool little utility.... I'd even pay a bit more for it as an additional feature if needed.

Disregarg, I just discoverd "Get Clipboard" :) Any chance of incorporating the usual Windows Copy/Paste/Undue key strokes, Control V, C etc (or in my case today Control Z would helped me undue a paste I did accidently.

I tried that route with Win10Pro, but found that Microsoft's forced update policy (ie "you get all updates whether you like it or not") wasn't a good thing. The updater regularly replaced the drivers for Motorola, Harris and Relm radios on my machine in the belief that the Microsoft driver was newer and better. I found this out the hard way when I went out in the field to program radios and it wouldn't work; had to drive all the way back to the office, reinstall the drivers and drive back. Another time it happened I had the CPS packages on the computer so I didn't have to drive back to the office, but I still lost about half an hour while I reinstalled all the drivers.

After that I went back to the office, did a nuke and pave, and went back to Windows 7 Pro. Haven't had a problem since, so I'm going to keep using Windows 7 just as long as I can. I'm 99% a Mac user and the fact that some of my radio-related programs (primarily CPS) are the only things I need Windows for makes it easier.

It wouldn't be so bad if Win10 allowed me to select the updates I want to install and ignore others like Win7, but that's not even an option.

And speaking of Apple. . . an iOS version of Proscan for RSOIP use would be most excellent.

I didn't realize that you couldn't select the updates that you wanted with Windows 10. I've heard of people having driver problems after updates but I was under the impression, and just in my own mind, that you could choose whether to update the driver or not. That does sound like a serious problem since a lot of radios do require specific, and sometimes older, drivers for the cables to work.

That's one of the very big things I don't like about Windows 10; unless you're in an enterprise environment, you're stuck with what Microsoft wants you to have as far as updates. I totally get the fact that most people were lax about updates, and the solution is to force-update the machine, but there should still be a mechanism for declining certain updates if they break the computer.

So far I have had no issues at all with Proscan on Windows 7, and I did try it on Win10 with no issues, so fortunately Proscan is one of the bright spots.

Take a look at this, Jen: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H6LBKVH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought one to remote my USB linked Piaware ADS-B/MLAT receiver to a better location, so I could shorten up the coax-to-antenna length. I'll let you know how it works out for my application, but I may try it with my SDS200 just for kicks.

Looks interesting Greg... be careful though, when you start introducing latency into a chain where there's no or limited error correction cus the system is built for direct connect like USB is, there's risk of corruption and we don't want to brick one of our radios, you go ahead and be the guinea pig on that one... LOL. I've already experienced some data corruption, see below post:

https://forums.radioreference.com/threads/sds200-volume-question.384236/#post-3140099

The FTP is working fine for me so that's what I'll stick with for now.... but thank you.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'd never try to push a firmware update over a WiFi/USB link.

Till the day the wife is screaming at you "LET'S GO ALREADY, WE'RE LATE" and you hit "Update Firmware" without noticing.... ;)

Note: It can happen on regular uploads, see my above corruption issue, I was lucky THIS TIME, it only changed a bunch of volume offsets....
