I guess I was being impatient, I hear what I need to hear now (guess it is a slow night) but should I be concerned about this error message?
I guess you can try these settings:

I'm not too familiar with that program though. Another option would be to contact the developer.

I have a question about Site 34, ERV 2. It is showing up as a neighbor to Troop A Simulcast and Troop L Simulcast on dsdplus. Also seeing Site 35 as a neighbor to both, but can't find a Site 35 on the database. Any info on these 2 sites? I can't hit either one from Southbury so I don't know how close they may be. Thanks!

one the ERV was being used in Troop L territory to fill in reception gaps. It might be in Sharon. it was a few months back someone had pinned it down. the missing one is a mystery to me but someone will know.

Help please. I picked up a new 996P2 last Friday. Works well except for the state system. Conventional and Waterford P25 are fine. I've read all 88 pages of this thread, the manual, and am stumped.

I'm near the Niantic Bridge in Waterford. Outside antenna approx. 130ft above sea level. Receiving the Troop E simulcast programed with the CC and alternate CC's. at 5 bars consistently. Tried it with the CC only. System set for P25. Squelch set at 1 or 2. Yet even in search mode, I'm getting nothing from the talk groups. Is my system type wrong as P25? Motorola maybe? Fleet map? Decode options?

Pulling my hair out with my upgrade from the 996XT. Need help from somebody smarter than me.

Thanks all.

When CSP went to Phase2 some reported the same thing. If it works with all the frequencies in there leave it that way. I dont think there's any downside to it.

The P2 is a great scanner. I own one.

Since the switch, it requires more signal to receive the system.

If you are not receiving the CC, you will not receive the system. It's really as simple as that.

Look at the scanner display to determine which CCs you are receiving and that will dictate what you hear.

Good luck!

what are you having trouble with i have the 536 and the 996p2 have no problem at all
Five bars signal strength on primary control (773.93125) and alternate control (852.625, 853.3375). But no traffic on any talk groups, even in search mode.
I figure there has to be an issue somewhere in the settings, but can't find where.

Uniden 996P2 in Berlin. I have Hartford (Troop H) CC and Middlesex (Troop F) CC programmed (no alternates). Between the two sites I can receive all Troops except Troop D. (Troops F, G and E only through Troop F site). Using FreeScan I have site type as "P25 Standard (Digital T)" selected, APCO tab as "auto", Threshold at "8" and modulation as "auto".

Maybe not related, but when having trouble receiving a different agency, I was instructed to try turning the IFX (IF exhange) on (Function 4) (thanks to Mike _G_D) and that solved my issue.

Good luck.

Try turning off the squelch. Also, the Troop E system is touch and go all along rt 156 from Old Lyme through Niantic and past the bridge into Waterford although the troop F system is good through out, (Go figure). Add the F system and you will get at least some of the Troop E broadcasts.

Another thought with lack of reception is regarding Phase 2. Can you hear DEP? I think they are the busiest user that is currently still Phase 1. Much of the issues with reception didn't start when the system went to full P25, it was they went to Phase 2.
