• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I managed to get my G5 to downgraded to 1.35. Like a couple of other folks, I was seeing calls getting cut off or missed quite a bit on 2.02. I tried setting all the talk groups to alert mode = Tone which helped a little bit but not much. It seems it was struggling to keep up with quick back to back transmissions and this is on a small system with only 60 talkgroups.
Exactly what two of us have.
Struggle is the word.

Thanks for the post.

Is this the system with issue?

And I should clarify too, while the system has about 60 talkgroups total, the site I’m listening too gets only about a handful of those. So we’re talking about a tiny amount of transmissions.

Slightly off topic, but if we are passing along stuff to the firmware team, how about suggesting that they allow us to use the full talkgroup list for a system while in tg-monitor mode, instead of being limited to only 63 named talkgroups.

These aren't scanners meant for the hobbyist, they are professional radios, the agencies they are designed for don't typically need more than 64 TGs per knob position, so doubt that will ever change.

I understand that, however, the TG-Monitor mode exists, why neuter it?
My XG-100 is also a professional radio, it can scan 128 talkgroups.

Scan18. try this

Factory reset pager
then download from pager.
Start all over.
I imported from radio ref , fresh start
Seems much better.

When I upgraded from 1.35 to 2.02 I just kept using same data that was in 1.35.
Maybe that was a mistake and we should start CLEAN with 2.02.

Let me know if this helps on the miss calls.

Thanks, will give it a shot. I did previously try creating a new profile from scratch in PPS, but I didn't factory reset the pager first.
Can you clarify the second step you mention "download from pager"? If I factory reset the pager, wouldn't there really be nothing to download to PPS?

I changed the Status Bar RSSI Icon Type to "RSSI dBm" on a G4 & a G5

Listening to the same knob positions on both before and after re-programming, I found the following:

On the G4, a P25 P2 system was being monitored with 4 bars solid of signal strength. After changing the setting the display shows:

>-90 The value does not change either in standby or when the pager is receiving traffic.

On the G5, an analog UHF system was being montitored showing 4 bars. After changing the setting the display initially shows the same:

>-90. However, after receiving several transmissions, the value changed to >-97 to >-96. It stayed at >-96 after the transmissons ended.

These are initial findings. I'll continue to check for any major changes.

As someone who uses a G5 professionally, I would also like this capability.

I agree, and I wasn't saying people don't want it, I want it too, what I was saying is I doubt this is a feature Unication will change in future updates.

I am finding the same thing, It looks like -90 is as low as it goes so far and it only shows changes when its RX not when idol
