1435 EDT-- Empire 11 flt, ident as two F-18s just departed ADW and are headed for Dover then holding over Kent Island---some sort of flyby ???
Interestingly they are using VHF ATC freqs 119.3 & 124.55

1500 EDT- Empire 11 flt now on 121.95--usually used for fly bys at Naval Academy---says they are over Kent Island holding.

Yeah Ron looks like Navy at home today playing Georgia Southern.
Odd they are on the VHF freqs now but seems more and more Navy fighters
using them anymore..

Apache along the Potomac

Did anyone log any apache helicopters today at around 1620hrs. One flew over my head at about 350-400 ft. along the Potomac by the C&O Canal near KDCA.

Venus 65 was just with Griffin CP (378.1) and ident himself as "local" VC-37B--says he's off to Atlantic City for some pattern work--could be # 06-0500 who used to be Venus 60

Yes that was 06-0500 working.
Heard him also here mention Atlantic City for 3 hours work there.

0915 local heard a DEECEE 12 mention DECEE 11 is returning for smoke in the cockpit.
I think DC 11 was 61-0307 and DC 12 was 62-3556.

This is the VC-25A #82-8000 just back from 1 year overhaul on 09/07/10.
Saw article somewhere about it being returned to service at Andrews.

This will be a flight of 5 F-16s from the 62FS at Luke who staged out of EWR to do a flyby for the Giants game on Sunday afternoon. I saw them on the ramp there on Friday, but no serials, unfortunately.

A likely heads up tomorrow for 4 Seymour Johnson F-15Es headed back home. Same story as above, but replace the Giants with the US Open, and the flyby was today, since the match was postponed until this afternoon.

Serials on those are 87-0205 (marked “4 OSS”), 88-1679, 88-1698, and 88-1703. Because I'm a bit of an idiot, I forgot to note the squadron.
