Has anyone seen the decoding of the OTA alias from a group that is locked out in the DSDPLUS.groups file? DSD+FL still decodes these groups, but doesn't play the audio, so I was thinking it would decode the alias but I have not seen it yet and was wondering if anyone else has.
DSD plus can only capture the alias if it is tuned / allowed to tune to the voice channel. If you got the group locked out then it’s not going to tune to any voice channel. At least that is what common sense tells me. I don’t hundred percent know the difference between those two top options in the menu so I don’t know if that’s true if you’re using alias priority or not using alias priority.

The bottom line is that if it does tune to the voice channel, it will capture the alias. If it’s not tuning to the voice channel, it is not capturing an alias

Thanks for the clarification

Yes. I have 90% of my talkgroups locked out and they decode OTA whether l/o, normal, high, hold and whatever # I assigned them for priority in the system for speaking.

I've noticed a lot of talkgroups that state ALIAS, do not actually have the aliases in the radios

Edit: no idea what happened, but page 3 did not tell me it was an option to click or I would have noticed you were replied to already lol

Hmmm, now there seems to be two totally different answers

I'm unable to get any aliases to appear when monitoring a Motorola P25 system that uses group services or a Harris P25 system that transmits the aliases, any idea what the issue could be? My work radio's receive both system aliases, SRD Trunk receives the Harris aliases, not the Motorola.

Let's check the basics. you have the newest version 509 installed? You have it turned on in the Events Log screen menu? You are monitoring both the control and voice channels?

one thing that i would love for them to add is the ability to lock out certain talkgroups from the Alias priority

the system i am listening on is broadcasting aliases on 90% of the talkgroups, however only one county is really using them

mine is Marcs Summit Co

so whats happening is DSD will stick to transmissions that are transmitting the CC Alias data but no alias is being used if i could lock those out from the priority it would be way more efficient

What about locking them out in the GROUPS file? My state system is mostly (98% of the TGs) only using OTA aliases for the SHP, I have everything else locked out except a select group (SHP, Statewide Events, Federal) of TGs so I can concentrate on capturing those OTA aliases. Seems to be working good for me.

Yes I have 509. Not sure, when I go to Misc/P25 Motorola Radio Aliases, it's all default. Yes, I have Combined CC/VC Monitor selected.

In the event logger, it's says Alias server updated with OTA alias data for RID, it's also saying 729 radio records saved; 0 user aliases.

Which means it has sent the info to the DSD server but not back to you yet. What system is this?

Okay, I really don't know the difference between Priority and N0n-Priority, I haven't really seen a difference, so I can't comment on that
ok with the New OTA Aliases there is a setting called "Acquire Using Alias Priority" when checked it will prioritize Any talkgroup giving the "Alias" command on the control channel, the actual alias data is sent via voice frames but when checked it ignores all l/o data
