99XXXXX are FED RIDs on SAFE-T. As for identifiers, most of the USMS ops I have heard rarely use any other than names unless they are on an mixed agency op with FBI, and DEA etc.... Now if they were on a mixed op on an say ISP TG they will ID as Marshal XXX, FBI XXX etc.... Other than Feds, I only have heard Detectives and SWAT/ERT/SRT operatives use only names and not callsigns/badge numbers. And that is only on certain CH/TG.... When they are talking on main dispatch or mixed ops they use callsigns/badge numbers

Looking like the 10241 thru 10250 are North/Central Fed use. (Mainly, as we have seen some of the statewide use going on...)

5/1/2018 A new Fed TG this morning(over night), 10375, with 15 Fed"99" & State"93" radios, including 99George and two others previously on 10249.

6 of those"93" radios are in the RID area of IPSC radios, 2 are ISP.

I have three radios in my log under 167*****. Who could possibly use a triple digit number like this? Or could this be some stock RID that hasn't been changed?

same this am in the Terre Haute area... TG 10243, I logged over 20 "99" IDs with traffic (ENC) and a few that I labeled DEA a few months back...not sure what was going on, but it was a very big group May 1 and it started around 6am , IDs of 9900000-9900101

Based on the 6 AM timeframe, I bet this was related to raids going on in Kokomo.

There seems to be a large block of Fed/Local Task Force TGs.. And some use encryption a lot, others its only a few users going encrypted. 1024XX and 1037X Seem mainly Central/North Ops and Tacs, and the 21XXX and 22XXX seem to be mainly South Ops and Tacs.... Today was a Nationwide Sweeps day (1stish of month usually is...) And of course Tuesdays and Thursdays seem popular too all month... So popular in NOLA that the Gangsta Rappers made songs about it. LOL Also remember 4 days til intergalactic lets get drunk day.

Clark realignment

Clark County has finally joined the bandwagon and has consolidated dispatch centers. I will be changing the talkgroups to reflect the new line up as information is submitted. Please do monitor closely in the Clark Co region and ID the changes as TGs are re assigned.

Johnson County Site Failure?

Anyone hear of a SAFE-T site failure in NW Johnson or NE Morgan Counties recently? Fox 59 had an article about White River Twp FD experiencing a radio failure during a working house fire. So as a result, Johnson County approved implementing a "backup radio system". Whether this backup system is only for the northern tier or countywide wasn't clear in the report. Could this potentially be IDPS System 5?

Let's ask Howard County how that Kenwood system is working out for them....

After reading all the minutes for 2018, looks like so far its a no go on any new backup system for Johnson Co. Any way they go, it would be expensive. Cheapest way would be to outfit everyone with the all band APXes, or at least the dual banders, and re set up the VHF High band on stand bye mode. Then you still have full SAFE-T, the 8 Call/8Tacs, 700 MHz conventional, and VHF. They will not go IDPS, that would require building out an complete new 5 to 8 site simulcast cell and cost millions. JC may have a good money base, but I do NOT see them going gaga over an 4 to 8 million dollar system.

Though I do see that they may really need another SAFE-T site down in the SW corner of Johnson County area.... Edinburgh Covers SE, and SC pretty darn good. Franklin rocks out the entire Central area with the sides covered pretty good by Shelby Simulcast and the Morgan County sites , and Northern areas have overlapping coverage also.

The complaints about the number of TGs, and CH on SAFE-T, are why IPSC wants to ASAP get started on the Phase II Upgrades. If the Sheriff gets 14 talk paths to use instead of 7 he claims now, he should be a tad bit happier. At least I would hope so.

Do agencies get usage stats on a regular basis? The county's site says they have 56 merit deputies, so I wonder why they would need 14 paths.

The last stats I see are from around 2007, back then the system averaged 2400 PTTs per user per year.

I know most states give a monthly stat report on their systems, and would expect this is so with IPSC. The main issue the sheriff is complaining about is basically with say the Grenwood site, you have a total of 7 usable freqs plus the CC, thats 7 talk paths... This has to be shared with DOT, ISP, ALL the Johnson County Users, IDHS, Feds, and any other user that has access and affiliates with that site. That includes everyone on SAFE-T for an circle two counties around that site, INCLUDING IFEMS, and IMPD when they have need to. Granted, they also have the Franklin, and Edinburgh sites, but you can only use one site at a time that your affiliated to, and those are also shared. Once SAFE-T goes to Phase II,... The Greenwood site will have 14 talk paths. If you ever want to see just how crazy it can get, park on say a busy site like the Greenwood one with Unitrunker or Pro96Com, and watch the traffic, from affiliations, grants, Voice and Data. It gets nuts sometimes, especially on weekends or bad weather events. If you want, I will do a log of that and a slow site like IGC North and you can compare.

Likewise, Johnson County has use of the SAFE-T sites in a circle of sites 2 counties around Johnson County, and often pop up on Mooresville, Martinsville, Hendricks Simulcast, Shelby Simulcast, Brown County sites, D-52, IGC North....

And the IPSC set up on the IN.GOV site.... Sadly lacking and out of date. Most of the P25 data and site map is now over a year old. Guess the State doesn't pay good enough for its IT guys on Website Development.

I didn't understand the site was only 7 channels, makes sense now.
At one time San Diego county published their stats but I don't see them now.

Phase 2 tdma upgrade

How hard will it be to do a phase 2 tdma upgrade to a phase 1 safe t site?
