REACH 2098 (C-17A, 02-1098) arrived at Patterson earlier. Called inbound with 7 crew, 3 "radents?" (couldn't understand what he said) and 6 pax. Parking I2 for cargo upload (I think). Dispatch advised them to expect 150 personnel, but 2098 said their max upload was 122 - maybe they're sending people to Haiti. The crew also requested a case of MREs that they couldn't get before leaving KCHS.

Also had NAVY RS ??? (C-9B, unid) depart after an RON; not sure where to. JOSA 246 (C-21A, unid) also RON and departed for KIAD before noon. Full logs later tonight.

Update: NAVY RS 089 did not depart (I thought it had), just recieved clearance to KxxW (probably KADW, if anyone can confirm later).

(AE120F) was showing callsign 022008 FL31k-FL51k before disappearing.
Scramble has that tail 02-2008 as RQ-4A-10 Edwards April 07.
News said Beale was sending Global Hawk to work Haiti recon.
Beale sends Global Hawk to aid in Haiti earthquake relief efforts
Could this be it? Just a WAG on my part here.
Sure isn't Army C-12 going to FL 51k.

I logged that possible Global Hawk from 0840 at 12,400 to 0938 at 52,100.

1550- Just logged 3B7B86 F-ZBMC Dash8 of the French Securite Civile Fireguard. Going to Haiti I would think.

1724- AE1FFF anyone? Just came into range 41k. Squawking 3203.

1740- AN-124 preparing to depart Dulles I think, got a quick hit on it at 430ft. Nothing in Flightaware yet.

Based on information developed, the AF is going to be using MRB (167th AW) as the supply distribution hub for the east coast, headed to Haiti.

They are reportedly receiving heavy tractor-trailer traffic delivering supplies, which are being palletized for shipment via military aircraft. They have also recalled their TDY'd aircraft and personnel for the mission(s).

Based on another source, I was told to start expecting heavy military air traffic in an out of the base starting immediately.

You may want to listen to Pikeside Control on 297.00 MHz for inbounds.

Based on visual observations this afternoon, they have started palletizing the supplies they have currently received and it spreads across the width of a C-5 hanger.

Travis, I have that as a 493rd Fighter Squadron F-15C from Lakenheath but no tail number for it.

Funny thing about the RQ-4 Global Hawk that came through this morning. Looking at the SBS database, it seemed to be traveling from the south toward the northeast based on the order of the stations that logged it. And it only seemed to be logged in this area. I wonder if it was one of the Pax birds?

I didn't see this logged anywhere but might have missed it...
ATIS freq for Patuxent has been changed from 276.2 to 322.425. That was effective this past 17 December.

Also at Pax...
Clearance Delivery freq changed from 384.4 to 316.125 on the same date - although most of us can't hear this one.

Also just noted that Patuxent posted a NOTAM for a Global Hawk flight today and tomorrow - from 1700Z today until 1500Z tomorrow. However, that doesn't cover the period we all logged one this morning. They usually do post a NOTAM when the Global Hawk flies.

My guess is that Pax is TDY homebase for this Beale Global Hawk while
it is working Haiti.Pax has experience and is equipped to service them.
Nice to know that in this busy air corridor on non-combat missions that we
can log it.
Wonder if you can hear it check in with ZDC high perhaps or is that done
differently?

Saw reporter on ground in Haiti complaining today that big part of

Mark, I'm beginning to wonder if we only see these Global Hawks when they get low enough to enter the normal ATC system. For instance, this 02-2008 we've been seeing, only seems to appear in this area when departing or returning to Patuxent. It's supposedly working the Haiti mission but no one logs it while it's down that way. And we lose it here once it gets up to working altitude. There's just something strange about the communications from those things that I haven't been able to figure out yet. I guess it's just because I haven't paid much attention to them in the past and spent the time to research it more.

1239: Have a Canadian CC-130, flight CFC3905 (130324, 8 Wing) flying through the area - perhaps heading south for Haitian relief work.

For the Sunday visit of AF1 to Massachusetts, there are apparently three C-17s set to haul the "stuff" required...
REACH 443T = C-17A, 03-3126, 6th AS McGuire
REACH 445T = C-17A, 08-8190, 437th AW Charleston
REACH 471T = C-17A, 03-3125, 6th AS McGuire
And a C-20 or two for support. And a very large security detail. And a large contingent of communications specialists. And a slew of government workers with notepads and clipboards. And lots of Air Force personnel to make it all work.
Of course, since this is a campaign trip, the taxpayers will be reimbursed the price of a first class airline ticket for all of this - perhaps as much as a thousand bucks. All is well in la-la land.
There was also a REACH 448T (C-17A, 96-0006, 437th AW Charleston) but I believe that one is supporting AF2 and the visit to Florida.

There's also an E-4B flying in the early 1300 hour off to our west about 300 miles displaying IMLAC55 as a callsign. (74-0787). I don't know direction of flight yet.

1315 hrs. Rch 310 (07-0716) on the grnd @ MRB.

That tail number doesn't compute. I had 07-7176, a C-17A up about that time but it wasn't on the ground and was showing as REACH 286. I can't figure out who REACH 310 is.

The latest MC-12W (AE2F59) that we logged through this area is just about to touch down at RAF Mildenhall early in the 1400 hour. I'm waiting for one of the spotters there to grab and confirm the tail number.

Patterson looks like they finally got the airlift support for the task force that was assembled here and waiting for several days. Two 452nd AMW C-17s in today (05-5139 and 05-5140):

1/15 (cont'd from yesterday's post):
REACH 2098 (C-17A, 02-1098) - departed sometime yesterday evening? (never heard it, but did not see it parked on base today)
SUMMIT 22 (C-130H, 96-7322) - parking H1, RON
VADER 23 (C-130H, 92-3023) - parking H2, RON, requesting transportation

1/16:
REACH 589 (C-17A, 05-5139) - parking I1, cargo upload
VADER 21 (C-130H, 92-3021) - 49 pax with bags (JROTC), 8 crew, requesting 4K fuel, transportation for pax and crew, parking H3
VADER 23 (C-130H, 92-3023) - aeromed training
REACH 413 (C-17A, 05-5140) - parking I2, cargo upload, departed as REACH 5140
REACH 589 (C-17A, 05-5139) - 51 pax (FEMA); to KLFI
REACH 5140 (C-17A, 05-5140) - arrived as REACH 413; to KLFI

I also did look on the 445th AW ramp - four Patterson C-5s parked there, and I finally confirmed "a/c 025" that I first logged 1/4 with radio checks. As I suspected, it is C-5A 69-0025...can't confirm if it has been transferred, but it is still wearing the Memphis tail flash.

Non-Patterson hits:
CODY 02 (unid) calling Andrews CP - no contact
STEEL 81 (KC-135T, unid) calling Steel Control - reports 20 min out, A2, 11 pax and 10 crew, landing with 20K fuel, parking spot 4
