I hope I am not hijacking. I certainly do not mean to. I am new to milair and somewhere in the Maryland forum last week I found a chart with several columns and lines that showed many "standard' milair freqs for the DC area. I can't find it now and need a wetnurse to help me locate it...

The 167th is an Advanced Air Frame Inspection base for C5's. There are 3 bases designated in the US for this C5 inspection and repair.

The unit has 11 C5s assigned to it, but several of the aircraft are loaners that are exchanged out with other units when the send their C5s in for service.

According to the base info, there will be 5 aircraft from other units scheduled to cycle thru the base this year, in addition to their own aircraft.

Basically the aircraft is town apart, inspected, repaired and then returned to service. Based on their base publications, it takes several weeks to process an aircraft.

Thanks for the Martinsburg C-5 info.

I was fishing 4-Mile Run by DCA today. I heard a quite a racket emanating from the airport and I figured right that it was the USCG helos preparing to depart. So I tuned in. I was right.

First to depart about 1515 was BLACKJACK-1 6530. About five minutes later BLACKJACK-2 6590 departed.

I got a bunch of pics. This is a pretty good view.

AN-124 RA-82075 is scheduled to depart KIAD tomorrow as POT548 at 0448 enroute to BIKF. It's going to be a little too dark for a photo.

WILD, BULLY, and ANGRY headed down to Pax earlier this am. I can hear them on 143.15.

They did the Patriots-Ravens game at Foxborough. Was a 4 ship, went down to 3, but #3 had to RTB with smoke in the cockpit! Made it ok.

Yeah A-10s. I kind of watched, but I don't think CBS showed the flyby.

Yeah TV networks rarely show football flybys anymore as they are busy
jamming in commercials at that time :(

I will probably be at work this afternoon but look for F-15E's coming
in from Lakenheath this afternoon for Red Flag later this Month at Nellis
but will rest at Seymour Johnson.
TABOR 11,21 flights and Tankers should be CLEAN callsign.

Guys,

1024- ??? 61 (call missed)-w/Huntress (364.2) for modes & codes checks---position is 20 miles east of JFK at FL270.

Thought that was pretty good reception range from my QTH near BWI---considering my VHF/UHF antenna is only 20 ft above the ground up in my attic.

Wrap Up

Guys,

Thought I'd try and put it all together on those Seymour-Johnson F-15s that returned to CONUS late last week. Looking at it in it's entirely I think it's pretty impressive the amount of info a bunch of "amateurs" like us could put together.

The posts below are from Ed in Maine, SURF007 (for the HF part), Rene, Mark, Tin and myself. If I left anyone out I apologize:

Here it is:

BLUE 71,72 are inbound to you now, see my continuing post.

1227: MAZDA 11 flight with ZDC-Salisbury 257.7 reporting in at FL 280. This should be the F-15E flight from the 335th FS returning to Seymour Johnson from the desert.
These guys sure aren't talkative. Heard a couple of transmissions on the 257.7 freq and then perhaps it was them again on 235.625 ZDC-Blackstone and that was it. Also heard a

couple of quick transmissions on 300.375 which might have been their air-to-air.

1240 MAZDA 21 sounded like McGuire metro 239.800 req wx at SJ.
Using Brit accent or exchange pilot.
1244 141.550 MAZDA 11 tells 21 and Andrews? that callsigns will change to JEEP 11,21
inbound SJ.
1250 MAZDA 21 on ZDC 281.450 dropping down to 200

Just had Mazda 11 w/McGuire Metro (239.8) asking about Seymour-Johnson wx and both Mazda 11 Mazda 21 are using 141.55 as A-A.

1256: MAZDA 11 requesting direct Seymour Johnson when able from the ZDC-Norfolk controller...327.8
1257: MAZDA 11 cleared down to FL 240...327.8
1259: MAZDA 11 flight handed off but I couldn't understand the freq...327.8

1305: MAZDA 21 flight handed off from ZDC-Salisbury to somewhere - possibly Norfolk 370.925 but sounded more like 360.925.

Hex code 29CBB8 was up the entire time MAZDA 11 flight was passing through the area and the altitudes matched. There are several aircraft that use this bogus hex code so

can't say for sure it was them. One of the C-130T types from VR-53 Andrews also uses it.

Some of the tanker IDs I was able to round up for this Coronet mission:

BLUE 71 = KC-10A, 86-0035
BLUE 72 = KC-10A, 83-0081
BLUE 73 = KC-135R, 63-8033
BLUE 74 = KC-135R, 57-2605
BLUE 81 = KC-10A, 86-0037
BLUE 82 = KC-10A, 79-1712 (a guess-displaying TEAM 37 in Mode-S)
BLUE 84 = KC-135R, 63-8012

Coronet 11 A1

Guys,

Just now (1413 EST) had a couple of xmissions on 396.2 Coronet 11 A1---maybe the Lakenheath F-15s mentioned by Mark

1430- have Clean 91 working w/11 flt on 396.2--want wx for undisclosed locatiion at 2230Z. 11 advises Clean 91 they will top off in another 100 miles or so and go in from there and clear Clean 91 off.

At 1448 they are starting to fade out from my QTH---Tabor 11 tells Clean 91 that he is cleared off after they top off.
